Amaltheia Organic Dairy is a family run farm located just outside of Bozeman, Montana in the foothills of the Bridger Mountains. We are a certified organic farm that has been handcrafting award winning goat cheeses for over 20 years. We utilize our by-products, creating our own compost, as well as grow a wide variety of vegetables. We sell wholesale to grocery stores, select restaurants, two local farmers markets and began a CSA in 2022. We strive to have the farm be a fun, efficient and gratifying place to work.

Job Description

Amaltheia Organic Dairy is a diverse organic farm based in Belgrade, Montana. In 2022 we expanded to 9 acres of vegetable production. This posting is for the vegetable production portion of the farm.

We are seeking a Delivery Driver for the 2025 season and beyond. For all of our positions we are looking for people who are positive, hard and fast workers, who easily take on responsibilities, and can work productively both in groups and individually. This is a full time position, April - October with the option for year-round work. We are only accepting applicants that can commit to the full season with preference for applicants that would like to commit for at least 2 seasons.

Delivery Driver requirements include:

  • Clean driving record, drivers license and reliable transportation to work

  • Ability to drive a box truck around downtown Bozeman

  • Experience or willingness to learn to drive a forklift; skid steer

  • Punctuality and reliability is a must

  • Strong communication and leadership skills

  • Attention to detail

  • Self-starter, ability to work with a sense of urgency and maintain a swift pace

  • Ability to lift 50 lbs repeatedly and consistently without strain

It is important to note that the delivery driver will also assist in harvest, planting, hand weeding and row covering.

This position is about 40% delivering / 60% harvest & field work

Delivery Driver responsibilities include:

  • Be the face of the farm on deliveries - ensure that customer engagement and satisfaction are top priorities

  • Safe and efficient driving of box truck into town for deliveries twice weekly

  • Deliver orders on time according to the schedule

  • Check for correct paperwork and return all signed invoices; ensure that paperwork including gas receipts are filed correctly in the office

  • Load and unload the delivery truck

  • Pick up waxed boxes at various delivery locations to bring back to packshed

  • Communicate any delivery mishaps or missing items to the packshed/sales manager

  • Keep the delivery truck clean and orderly, bring any repair needs to the attention of the management staff

  • Use of pallet jacks and forklift

Field Crew responsibilities include:

  • Safe driving of farm trucks, box truck and van to and from fields and pack shed

  • Harvesting a wide variety of vegetables including but not limited to: hand harvesting baby leaf lettuces, bunching kale, bunching root vegetables and picking hot crops like tomatoes, zucchini and cucumbers

  • Field Work: transplanting, weeding and row covering crops for pest and frost protection

  • Greenhouse Work: trellising, trimming, weeding and harvesting

  • General maintenance of fields - example: weed whacking around greenhouses

  • Keeping an eye out for pests or disease and letting management know

  • Helping to maintain irrigation and keep to a watering schedule

  • Harvest vegetables according to farm’s standards

  • Operate and maintain farm vehicles & equipment as needed

  • Contribute to a safe and orderly working environment

Schedule & Hours:

The position’s start date is flexible but the target start date is May 1st, 2025. The delivery season goes all year round with the vegetables and cheese.

This position entails a 4-5 days work week - Monday through Friday. Hours differ depending on the weather and season. Due to our far northern climate, hours can be very long in the spring/summer/fall and then very slow in the winter. Expect a range of 40-50 hours per week throughout the season.

Compensation:

Starting wage for this position is $18/hr or DOE. In addition to an hourly wage, employees receive paid lunches and we provide a weekly “employee CSA” which includes our vegetables & goat cheeses.
